A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-2-15
, relating
to requiring all schools to post and make available to the
public the schedules of teachers and staff; and providing a
penalty for not having the schedules available by the second
week of the school year.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated
§18A-2-15,
to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. SCHOOL PERSONNEL.
§18A-2-15. School personnel schedules open to public; penalty.
(a) All schools shall post and make available to the public a
complete listing of the schedule for every teacher and staff
personnel for that school. Copies shall be posted and made readily available in the school's office by the second week of the school
year and freely distributed to staff and to the public without
having to comply with the state's Freedom of Information Act.
(b) If by the second week of the school year, a school fails
to post and make available to the public the teacher and staff
personnel schedules as provided in this section, both the principal
of the school and the county superintendent of that school shall be
fined $500.00.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require every school to
post and make available to the public the schedule for every
teacher and staff personnel for each school, and if a school fails
to do so, the principal of that school and the county
superintendent of that school shall be fined $500.00
each.
