A BILL to amend and reenact §18A-4-7 of the Code of West Virginia,
1931, as amended, relating to providing that a substitute
teacher be paid the full daily rate
of the advanced salary
if
he or she has taught more than ten instructional days in the
same school year.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That §18A-4-7 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended,
be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.
§18A-4-7. Substitute teachers' pay.
The pay of a substitute teacher shall may not be less than
eighty percent of the daily rate of the state basic salary paid to
teachers: Provided, That any substitute teacher who teaches in
excess of ten consecutive instructional days in the same position school year shall, thereafter, not be paid less than eighty percent
of the daily rate of the state advanced salary based upon teaching
experience: Provided, however, That any substitute teacher who
teaches in excess of thirty days in the same position shall be paid
the daily rate of the advanced salary, within that teacher's
county.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide full daily rate
of pay for substitute teachers if they have in excess of ten
instructional days in the same school year.
