A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §11-2-12, relating to
taxation; assessors; and granting licensed real estate
appraisers access to assessors' commercial or residential
review documents to determine comparable market value.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §11-2-12, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. ASSESSORS.
§11-2-12. Access to commercial or residential review documents.
_____A county assessor may provide a person, who is a licenced real
estate appraiser under article thirty-eight, chapter thirty of this
code, copies of commercial or residential review documents on the assessor's computerized assessment system for the sole purpose of
determining comparable market value of a property. The assessor
shall redact from the copies information pertaining to security
systems, home safes and other information that may jeopardize the
security of the property or any possessions. The assessor may
charge a fee of no more than $3 for each document.
_____NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to permit
licensed real
estate appraisers access to assessors' commercial or residential
review documents. The bill also permits county assessors to charge
no more than $3 for each document.
