A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §18-2-5h, relating to
directing the State Board of Education to determine what
principal and teacher reports are unnecessary; and requiring
the state board to identify to the Legislature these reports
with recommendations on how to alleviate the administrative
burden of these reports on principals and teachers.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-2-5h, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
§18-2-5h. Review and determination of principal and teacher
reports; identify reports with recommendations to
Legislative Oversight Commission.
The state board shall study, evaluate and determine all
reports required to be generated by principals and teachers to
determine those reports that are unduly burdensome, repetitive,
unnecessary, counterproductive or outdated in effort to alleviate
the administrative burden on principals and teachers.
The state board shall identify any such reports, together with
any comments and recommendations on how to reduce or consolidate
these reports, to the Legislative Oversight Commission on Education
Accountability, no later than December 31 of each year.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to direct the State Board of
Education to determine what principal and teacher reports are
unnecessary; and to require the state board to identify these
reports to the Legislature with recommendations on how to alleviate
the administrative burden of these reports on principals and
teachers.
