A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §33-4-21, relating to
requiring all health care insurance plans offered by the state
to public employees to pay for the contraceptive drug RU-486
as a benefit.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §33-4-21, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 4. GENERAL PROVISIONS.
§33-4-21. Health care insurance offered by the state may pay
benefits for use of RU-486.
Notwithstanding any provision of this code to the contrary,
all health care insurance plans offered by the state to its
employees shall include as a benefit, payment for the contraceptive drug known as RU-486.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require payment for the
contraceptive drug RU-486 as a benefit under any health care
insurance plan offered by the state to public employees.
