HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 23

Rodighiero and Stowers)
Requesting the Division of Highways to name the new State Route 10
bridge over the Guyandotte River at Man, Logan County, West
Virginia the "SFC Terrance N. Gentry Memorial Bridge" upon the
bridge's subsequent completion and opening.
Whereas, SFC Terrance N. Gentry was born on June 28, 1949, and
raised in Man, West Virginia; and
Whereas, SFC Terrance N. Gentry was killed in action while
serving with the 101
st Airborne Division in Vietnam on August 25,
1969; and
Whereas, On that fateful day in 1969, Terrance N. Gentry gave
the last full measure of devotion to his country; and
Whereas, It is only fitting and proper that this bridge be
named in his honor, and that it henceforth stand as a permanent
memorial so that SFC Terrance N. Gentry's supreme sacrifice will
never be forgotten; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name the
new State Route 10 bridge over the Guyandotte River at Man, Logan County, West Virginia the "SFC Terrance N. Gentry Memorial Bridge"
upon the bridge's subsequent completion and opening; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is requested
to have made and be placed, signs identifying the bridge as the
"SFC Terrance N. Gentry Memorial Bridge" with a designation that
SFC Terrance N. Gentry served in the Vietnam Conflict; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the family of SFC
Terrance N. Gentry and the Secretary of the Department of
Transportation.
