HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 29

(By Delegates Dittman, Westfall, Mazzocchi, Petitto, Holstein, and Ferrell)

Requesting the Division of Highways name the bridge numbered 04-040/00-000.01 () 04A096, at 38.5670347217001, -80.8980361650172, known locally as the "Strange CK DK GRD,"  the "U.S. Army Sgt Thomas Lawson Memorial Bridge."

Whereas, Thomas Lawson, originally from Little Birch, WV, lived a life of distinction worthy of being remembered; and

Whereas, Mr. Lawson joined the U.S. Army in 1967 where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam; and

Whereas, Mr. Lawson was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his valiant service and reached the rank of Sergeant; and

Whereas, Mr. Lawson loved West Virginia and, no matter where he went, always considered it home; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name the bridge numbered 04-040/00-000.01 () 04A096, at 38.5670347217001, -80.8980361650172, known locally as the "Strange CK DK GRD,"  the "U.S. Army Sgt Thomas Lawson Memorial Bridge." and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to erect signs containing bold and prominent letters identifying the bridge as the " U.S. Army Sgt. Thomas Lawson Memorial Bridge."; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
