Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance study the regulation of and tax consequences from illegal immigration in West Virginia.

Whereas, Illegal immigration has been increasing steadily in West Virginia; and
Whereas, The increase in illegal immigration has caused diverse problems both economic and otherwise; and
Whereas, It is in the best interests of the citizens of West Virginia that a clear picture of the tax consequences of the
increase in illegal immigration upon the citizens of the state be fully recognized; and
Whereas, It is imperative that West Virginia develop clear regulations for illegal immigration; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby requested to study illegal immigration and its tax consequences upon the State of West Virginia, and develop a plan for regulation of illegal immigration within this state; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2009, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation to be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
