HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 97
(Originating in the Committee on Rules)
Urging Workforce West Virginia to post on its official website a
registry of all business approved to do business with the
State.
Whereas, The Legislature has found that minority business
ownership is proportionately less than minority business ownership
nationwide and statewide; and
Whereas, The Legislature wishes to encourage meaningful
participation of minorities in the process of competing for and
awarding of State contracts for goods and services; and
Whereas, Public knowledge of minority business owners may
assist in improving the support and expansion of minority-owned
business; and
Whereas, An accessible registry of all businesses approved to
do business with the State and with the Department of
Transportation could prove to be a great asset in improving the
number of State contracts awarded to minority-owned businesses;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby urges Workforce West Virginia to post on its official website a registry of all business approved to
do business with the State; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Director of
Workforce West Virginia.
