HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 24

Honoring the centennial of United Parcel Service of America, Inc,
(UPS) and recognizing the contributions of the company to the
citizens of West Virginia.
Whereas, On the twenty-eighth day of August, 2007, UPS will
celebrate its one hundredth birthday; and
Whereas, UPS has served West Virginia since 1964 and today
employs over nine hundred employees and operates eleven facilities
across the state; and
Whereas, Each day, thirteen thousand and seven hundred citizens
of West Virginia utilize the express delivery and specialized
transportation and logistics services that UPS provides; and
Whereas, UPS delivers more than one hundred thirty thousand
packages every day to customers across West Virginia, connecting
people, communities and businesses; and
Whereas, The services UPS provides connects the people of West
Virginia to more than 200 countries through its expansive
transportation network that truly synchronized global commerce; and
Whereas, UPS has contributed more than six hundred seventy thousand dollars to philanthropic endeavors in the state of West
Virginia since 1995, reflecting the company's emphasis on community
service and citizenship; and
Whereas, UPS will continue to both provide a substantial
economic impact to the people of West Virginia and focus on
cultivating deep partnerships with the communities it serves;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the House of Delegates commemorates the one hundredth
anniversary of UPS; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the House of Delegates hereby
recognizes and celebrates the contributions of UPS to the people of
West Virginia both economically and philanthropically.
