Senate Clerk Clark Barnes

2015-16 West Virginia Blue Book Now Available

CHARLESTON – For the first time since 2012, the West Virginia Blue Book has been fully updated. In addition to newly printed hard copies, a full version of the updated reference book is available on the West Virginia Legislature’s website.

The West Virginia Senate is traditionally the curator and editor of the information contained in the comprehensive reference book, which is published in odd-numbered years. However, there was no book for 2013-14. Following the 2015 Legislative session, Senate Clerk Clark Barnes assembled a staff to begin gathering information and data to update every single section of the book.

“The Blue Book is a snapshot of history, and in my opinion, 2015 and 2016 were two very notable years in West Virginia’s history,” Barnes said. “While a great deal of this information is available on the internet, it’s impossible to predict how long those files will be out there, so I felt that it was important that a hard copy, printed format still be available.”

The book contains fully updated information about the executive, judicial, and legislative branches, federal offices, and state political committee chairmen and members. New for this edition is a brief history of West Virginia written by historical novelist Robert Walker, and a political summary of the 2014 General Election written by West Virginia writer A.V. Gallagher.

The online version of the book can be found at Senate Clerk. For more information, please call the Senate Clerk’s Office at 304-357-7800.
