Senate President Mitch Carmichael Praises Recent Constellium Announcement

CHARLESTON – Senate President Mitch Carmichael, R-Jackson, praised the recent announcement by Constellium that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Boeing to support the company’s commercial airplane programs. The plant, which is located near Ravenswood, employs more than 1,100 people.

“This is a huge win for Ravenswood and for Jackson County, and I couldn’t be happier to see that a plan is in place to ensure that Constellium continues to thrive for years to come,” Senate President Carmichael said. “It means so much to me personally to see this success. I know, first-hand, the value that this massive plant and its wonderful employees have on our community. My late father, Bill Carmichael, proudly worked as a union mill operator for more than 30 years in the original Kaiser Aluminum plant that is now Constellium. The many families that are supported and that will benefit from these jobs are a tremendous blessing. The plant’s management, employees, and many supporters are to be recognized and commended for their superior work and dedication to win this important contract with the world’s premier aerospace manufacturer.”

“The value of a good-paying job in a great place to raise a family is priceless,” Senate President Carmichael said. “American capitalism and work ethic are leading the world into a renewed era of prosperity. Our nation and state are winning again. The changes that our state has made during the last four years are leading to more success stories like Constellium. This and other positive economic news are proof that West Virginia is on the right track and our amazing comeback is just beginning.”
