Chairman Howell Praises Northrop Grumman Expansion in Mineral County

KEYSER, W.Va. – House of Delegates Committee on Government Organization Chairman Gary Howell, R-Mineral, today praised the announcement by Northrop Grumman that it will expand the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in Rocket Center, creating 500 new jobs in Mineral County.

“This is absolutely fantastic news for our region, and proof positive that the pro-growth reforms we’ve been working to implement in recent years are yielding positive results,” Chairman Howell said. “With this announcement, Northrop Grumman recognizes that West Virginia has a business-friendly environment with a state government focused on providing the infrastructure and workforce development tools that world-class companies need.”

Chairman Howell said the Republican-led Legislature has spent the past five years focusing on ways to make West Virginia’s business climate more competitive. From passing right-to-work legislation, improving the state’s legal climate, maintaining fiscally responsible budgets with low taxes, improving access to broadband technologies, spearheading workforce development and education programs, and investing in infrastructure development, lawmakers have implemented a slew of reforms that are gaining attention among international business leaders.

“I thank Governor Jim Justice, Commerce Secretary Ed Gaunch and state Development Office officials for their hard work in telling West Virginia’s comeback story and making sure companies like Northrop Grumman know we’re committed to doing all we can to help them thrive in our state,” Chairman Howell said. “This is just the beginning, and I’m confident as companies like Northrop Grumman succeed here, even more businesses will come to call West Virginia home.”
