Charleston, WV - Senate Democrats will hold a press conference on Monday, May 13 at 5 PM at Piedmont Elementary’s Celebration Station to announce a comprehensive education package that they will be proposing during the special session on education betterment. In an effort to move forward with grassroots-driven legislation, the minority caucus held 10 listening sessions after the legislative session as part of their “Keeping the Promise” listening tour. Democrats believe the bills in their package accurately reflect the will of the people, as heard in their listening tour, and support the recommendations set forth in the West Virginia Department of Education’s “West Virginia’s Voice” final report. They look forward to launching a robust discussion of education in the state.
