CHARLESTON, WV – The West Virginia Crime Victims Compensation will host its annual Crime Victims Day at the Legislature on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 beginning at 9:00 am.
This year, the Crime Victims Compensation Fund is partnering with various victim assistance organizations, including the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network, the Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Foundation for Rape Information and Services, Victim Information Notification Everyday, the US Attorney’s Office and the FBI, to provide a comprehensive information center for services available throughout West Virginia to those who find themselves a victim of violent crime.
“Crime Victims Day at the Legislature provides an opportunity for West Virginians to learn about the beneficial work of the Crime Victims Compensation Fund. For over forty years, the Fund has been assisting the citizens of our State rebuild their lives after suffering a criminal injury,” stated Aaron Allred, Legislative Manager of the West Virginia Legislature. “We encourage everyone to attend this event to learn more about the work of the Crime Victims Compensation Fund and their partner assistance organizations.”
The West Virginia Crime Victims Compensation Fund has been providing financial assistance to innocent victims of crime since 1982. Benefits available through the Crime Victims Compensation Fund include the payment of medical expenses, counseling expenses, work loss, funeral expenses and other economic losses.
