Charleston, WV - On Thursday, March 10, 2016 the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the West Virginia Commission on the Arts sponsored the Governor’s Arts Awards Gala at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston. During the awards ceremony, 10 Governor’s Arts Awards and 10 Legislative Leadership Awards in the Arts were presented.
Delegate Kelli Sobonya (R-Cabell) received a Legislative Leadership Awards for Arts in Education during the ceremony.
“West Virginia has a proud and storied history in the arts and we as lawmakers have always supported the arts whenever we can in our local communities and around the state,” said Delegate Sobonya. “I am honored to have received this recognition and I will continue to support West Virginia artists and arts organizations that make significant contributions to the state’s culture.”
The Governor's Arts Awards are designed to celebrate excellence in various sectors of the arts. The Awards focus attention on the importance of the arts to both human and economic development in West Virginia.
