Charleston, WV – Senate Majority Whip Richard Browning (D-Wyoming) announced today that a much needed grant will help the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department continue protecting lives and property in Wyoming County.
The $50,000 grant from the Governor's Community Development Division was awarded for the purchase of new fire equipment.
Senator Browning says he is proud to do his part in helping the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department help others.
“Volunteer firefighters work without compensation and unselfishly devote their time to help out their neighbors in times of distress,” says Browning. “I’m privileged to give the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department an award of $50,000 to purchase a new rescue vehicle.”
Chief Randall McNew says the grant will take a great burden off the community.
“Senator Browning has helped our Fire Department with a number of projects,” says McNew. “Again, the Senator has proven that he will go the extra mile for our community in order to guarantee our safety.”
Browning says Volunteer Fire Departments are important to the residents of rural West Virginia because they are the first responders in times of extreme need and distress.
