A BILL to amend and reenact section eight, article eleven, chapter twenty-one of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to requiring the contractor licensing board to provide renewal notice to licensees.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section eight, article eleven, chapter twenty-one of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 11. WEST VIRGINIA CONTRACTOR LICENSING ACT.

§21-11-8. Licenses; expiration date; fees; renewal.

(a) A license issued under the provisions of this article expires one year from the date on which it is issued. The board shall establish application and annual license fees not to exceed one hundred fifty dollars.
(b) The board shall send a renewal notice to each licensee not less than thirty days prior to the license expiration date. If a license is not renewed within thirty days after the expiration date, the board shall send the licensee a second renewal notice by certified mail, return receipt requested. If a second renewal notice is sent, the licensee shall pay, in addition to other fees prescribed by the board, a late fee in the amount of twenty-five dollars.
(b) (c) The board may propose rules in accordance with the provisions of article three, chapter twenty-nine-a of this code, to establish license and renewal fees.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the contractor licensing board to provide a renewal notice to licensees at least thirty days before the license expiration date.
