A BILL to amend and reenact §8-29-6 of the Code of West Virginia,
1931, as amended, relating to requiring regional airport
authority board members to include persons of area expertise.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That §8-29-6 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended,
be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 29. INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS - REGIONAL AIRPORTS.
PART I. AUTHORITIES AUTHORIZED; ORGANIZATION OF AUTHORITIES;
OPERATION OF AIRPORTS; DEFINITIONS.
§8-29-6. Qualification of members.
(a) All members of the board of each authority shall be
residents of the municipality or county which said members
represent.
(b) The members of the airport authority must fairly represent
different areas of interest, knowledge and expertise. The members of the authority shall include at least:
(1) One Active Commercial Pilot member with at least a
Commercial Pilots license with related experience current with the
Federal Aviation Authority;
(2) One member with maintenance experience of aircraft,
holding at least an Aircraft and Powerplant license issued and
current with the Federal Aviation Authority; and
(3) One member with experience, knowledge, and expertise
dealing with airport management.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require regional airport
authority board members to include persons of area expertise.
