A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new article, designated §5-30-1, increasing pay for social workers.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:



§5-30-1.  One thousand dollar increase in social worker pay.

Each person in each level of social worker pay classifications employed as of July 1, 2018, to perform social work for any agency of the State of West Virginia, shall receive a $1000 increase in annual pay effective July 1, 2018. The annual pay for entry level classified service employees in Social Worker I, Social Worker 2 and Social Worker 3 positions for state agencies, hired after July 1, 2018, shall be increased by $1,000.

           

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to increase pay of the state’s social workers to assist with recruitment and retention issues.
