HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 38
(By Mr. Speaker, Mr. Thompson,
and Delegates Perdue and Stephens)
Requesting the Division of Highways name bridge number 50-152-33.24
in Wayne County, the "Bob W. Bellomy Memorial Bridge."
Whereas, Bob W. Bellomy was a member of Patton's 3
rd Army, 8
th
Infantry Division in France, 1944; and
Whereas, Bob W. Bellomy's patrol came under fire from Nazi
German soldiers in the battle commonly called "The Battle of the
Bulge"; and
Whereas, Bob W. Bellomy was wounded in combat; and
Whereas, Bob W. Bellomy was taken captive as a prisoner of war
until April 1945; and
Whereas , It is fitting that this be named for Bob W. Bellomy
to honor his life and his faithful and courageous service to his
country; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways
to name bridge number 50-152-33.24 in Wayne County, the "Bob W.
Bellomy Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is requested
to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "Bob W. Bellomy Memorial Bridge, Recipient of the Purple Heart and a
Prisoner of War, Died August 4, 2008; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the family of Bob W.
Bellomy and the Secretary of the Department of Transportation.
