A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §20-5-20, relating to
providing
a fifty-percent discount to organized youth groups
for campsite rental or group camping fees at state parks and
forests if the group agrees to undertake a community service
project that benefits the state park or forest; and rules.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §20-5-20, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 5. PARKS AND RECREATION.
§20-5-20. Discount for organized youth groups; rules.
(a) The director shall provide to organized youth groups a fifty percent reduction at all state parks and forests for campsite
rental or group camping fees if the youth group agrees to undertake
a community service project that benefits the state park or forest.
(b) The director shall propose rules for legislative approval
in accordance with the provisions of article three, chapter twenty-
nine-a of this code to implement the provisions of subsection (a),
including defining "organized youth group" and setting standards
for "community service projects" undertaken in the state park or
forest. The director may exclude traditional peak periods of
occupancy at state parks and forests from the provisions of
subsection (a), and may otherwise place reasonable limits on the
size and duration of youth groups camping at state parks and
forests pursuant to subsection (a).
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide a fifty percent
discount to organized youth groups for campsite rental or group
camping fees at state parks and forests if the group agrees to
undertake a community service project that benefits the park or
forest.
