Requesting the Division of Highways name a portion of road, beginning at north and southbound 21-079/00-101.34 (39.05393, -80.40043) and ending at north and southbound County Overpass 14, carrying Interstate 79 over Rt. 14 in Lewis County, West Virginia, the "Wyant Brothers WWII Veterans Memorial Road".

Whereas, The Wyant brothers were born to parents Roy and Plessie Camfield Wyant; and

Whereas, Earl Cree Wyant was born on February 6, 1920, in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia; and

Whereas, U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Earl Cree Wyant served in World War II in the United States Coast Guard where he was honorably discharged, and received the Merchant Marine emblem, as well as the Honorable Service button; and

Whereas, U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Earl Cree Wyant passed away in 1959 after years of service to his country and to his community in West Virginia; and

Whereas, Homer A. Wyant was born in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia; and

Whereas, U. S. Army PFC Homer A. Wyant was honorably discharged from service on April 24, 1946, after serving during World War II; and

Whereas, U. S. Army PFC Homer A. Wyant passed away in 1996 after a long, fulfilling life of service to his country and to his community in West Virginia; and

Whereas, Roy N. Wyant was born on November 16, 1916, in Weston, Lewis County; West Virginia; and

Whereas, U.S. Army CPL Roy N. Wyant served in World War II as a Truck Driver, Crewman, and Search Light Operator in the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged on January 8, 1946, after having served his country since December 15, 1942; and

Whereas, U.S. Army CPL Roy N. Wyant passed away in 2006 after a long, fulfilling life; and

Whereas Truman L. Wyant was born on June 9, 1918, in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia; and

Whereas, Truman L. Wyant was married to his wife, Geneva Hall Wyant on June 20, 1940; and

Whereas, U.S. Army T5 Truman L. Wyant served in World War II with the 3rd Army of the United States, and he was honorably discharged on November 12, 1945, after having served since August 9, 1943; and

Whereas, U.S. Army T5 Truman L. Wyant retired from the Hope Natural Gas after almost 34 years of service; and

Whereas, U.S. Army T5 Truman L. Wyant passed away on September 18, 1996, after a long and fulfilling life; and

Whereas, It is fitting that an enduring memorial be established to commemorate these brothers and their contributions to our state and country during World War II and throughout their lives; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name a portion of road, beginning at north and southbound 21-079/00-101.34, (39.05393, -80.40043) and ending at north and southbound County Overpass 14, carrying Interstate 79 over Rt. 14 in Lewis County, West Virginia, the "Wyant Brothers WWII Veterans Memorial Road"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the stretch of interstate as the "Wyant Brothers WWII Veterans Memorial Road "; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
