SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20
(By Senators Unger, Yoder, Jenkins, Minard, Plymale and Hunter)
Recognizing the West Virginia AARP Driver Safety Program.
Whereas, The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first
and largest classroom driver refresher course specifically designed
for drivers age 50 and older; and
Whereas, The AARP Driver Safety Program helps drivers refine
existing skills and develop safe-driving strategies; and
Whereas, In 2006, the AARP Driver Safety Program celebrated 27
years of continuous service; and
Whereas, The AARP Driver Safety Program is taught and
administered by a nationwide network of AARP-trained volunteers;
and
Whereas, The program currently has over 100 West Virginia
volunteers teaching more than 200 classes and graduating over 3,500
drivers; and
Whereas, Upon completion of the AARP Driver Safety Program,
graduates may be eligible to receive a multiyear discount on auto
insurance premiums; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the West Virginia AARP
Driver Safety Program; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate extends its sincere appreciation to the dedicated AARP Driver Safety Program volunteers
who help keep our state's highways and byways safer for all West
Virginians; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to a representative of the West Virginia
AARP Driver Safety Program.
