SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 204

(By Senators Tomblin, Mr. President, Bailey, Barnes, Boley, Bowman, Caruth, Chafin, Deem, Edgell, Facemyer, Fanning, Foster, Green, Guills, Hall, Helmick, Jenkins, Kessler, Love, McCabe, McKenzie, Minard, Oliverio, Plymale, Prezioso, Sharpe, Stollings, Sprouse, Sypolt, Unger, Wells, White and Yoder)


Recognizing the service of the Honorable Jon Blair Hunter, member of the West Virginia Senate, dedicated public servant and distinguished West Virginian.

Whereas, Jon Blair Hunter was born December 25, 1938, in Richwood, Nicholas County, the son of John Patrick Hunter and Johnie Holifield Hinkleman; and
Whereas, Jon Blair Hunter is married to his beloved wife Judy. He is the proud father of two children, Greg and Beth; and
Whereas, Jon Blair Hunter received his education from the University of Wisconsin, earning an BS, MSW; and
Whereas, In 1996, the Honorable Jon Blair Hunter was elected to the West Virginia Senate from the fourteenth senatorial district; and
Whereas, During his tenure in the Senate, the Honorable Jon Blair Hunter served as Chair of the Senate Committee on the Military, and served on the Senate committees on Agriculture, Education, Energy, Industry and Mining, Health and Human Resources, Judiciary and Labor. He also served on the Legislative Oversight Commission on Health and Human Resources Accountability, and the Legislative Oversight Committee on Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority; and
Whereas, The Honorable Jon Blair Hunter has decided not to seek reelection to the West Virginia Senate in 2008, bringing to an end a long and dedicated career of public service; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the service of the Honorable Jon Blair Hunter, member of the West Virginia Senate, dedicated public servant and distinguished West Virginian; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby expresses its sincere appreciation to the Honorable Jon Blair Hunter for his dedication and commitment to the citizens of the fourteenth senatorial district and the State of West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Jon Blair Hunter.
