SENATE RESOLUTION 39

Recognizing February 24, 2023, as West Virginia Motorsports Day at the Legislature.
Whereas, West Virginia is comprised of a culture where its people embrace motorsports as an integral part of their recreation; and
Whereas, Motorsports strengthens and builds a community by bringing people from all walks of life together to celebrate their love of high-performance vehicles; and
Whereas, West Virginia reflects many different variants of motorsports throughout the state; sports car racing, stock car racing, motorcycle racing, go-kart racing, off-road racing, demolition derbies, truck and tractor pulls, drag racing, rally racing, Grand Prix racing, drifting, hill climbing, and many more provide choices of motorsports; and
Whereas, The motorsport industry contributes other benefits by providing a platform for testing out new ideas and technologies and helping to drive forward technological advancements from car design to safety equipment; and
Whereas, Motorsports, in construction of facilities, industry manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, installers, participants, and spectators add millions of dollars to the state's economy; and
Whereas, West Virginia has world class motorsports venues where our small towns and hospitality embrace this culture; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate recognizes February 24, 2023, as West Virginia Motorsports Day at the Legislature.
