HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 35
(By Delegate Collins)
Directing the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to make a
study of the economical viability of using the West Virginia
park system to save tax dollars by directing agencies to hold
conferences, seminars, retreats, etc. in the parks of the
State of West Virginia.
Whereas, State-owned and operated parks would promote a more
prosperous , viable, economical, and practical place to conduct
these meetings; and
Whereas, The low occupancy within these state parks during the
off season would be supplemented with such incentives in place to
promote our beautiful parks; and
Whereas, The concept of group lodging in these state parks by
contract may prove to be a further mechanism to cut frivolous
spending of tax dollars in the private sector; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
directed to review, examine and study the need for such a program
in this State, the needs for more economic and practical spending
of tax dollars, the ways and means for such development of this
plan and the kind of which are feasible and advisable and to make recommendations to the Legislature regarding the same; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the legislature, 1998, on
its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts
of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and
be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this
study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be
paid from legislative appropriations to the jJoint Ccommittee on
Ggovernment and fFinance.
