A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section; designated §21A-5-21, relating
to unemployment compensation coverage, and requiring nonprofit
organizations to disclose to employees on the date of hire
whether the employment is subject to unemployment compensation
coverage.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §21A-5-21, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 5. EMPLOYER COVERAGE AND RESPONSIBILITY.
§21A-5-21. Disclosure requirement for nonprofit organizations.
An employing unit that is a nonprofit organization, as
described in section 501(c)(3) of the "U.S. Internal Revenue Code,"
shall disclose to all employees on the date of hire whether or not the employee's service is subject to unemployment compensation
coverage.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require nonprofit
organizations to disclose to employees on the date of hire whether
the employment is subject to unemployment compensation coverage.
§21A-5-21 is new; therefore, strike-throughs and underscoring
have been omitted.
