A BILL to amend the Code
of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated
§11-5-15, relating to granting a veteran with a hundred percent service-connected
disability a $10,000 exemption from the assessed value for one vehicle that is
not used for commercial purposes.
Be it enacted by the
Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West
Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section,
designated §11-5-15, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5. ASSESSMENT OF
PERSONAL PROPERTY.
§11-5-15. Assessment of motor vehicles owned by disabled
veterans.
Beginning July 1, 2017, a
veteran with a hundred percent total and permanent service-connected
disability, as certified by the Director of the Department of Veterans' Affairs
of West Virginia, the assessor shall exempt the first $10,000 of the assessed
value of not more than one vehicle owned by that veteran and not used for
commercial purposes.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is
to grant a veteran with a hundred percent service-connected disability a
$10,000 exemption from the assessed value for one vehicle that is not used for
commercial purposes.
