A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section designated §18-2-24, relating to weighting final semester examinations.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

Article 2. state board of education.

§18-2-24.  Weighting of semester examinations.

(a) The Legislature finds that examinations are a key reflection of overall student learning. The Legislature finds that including examination results in a student’s grade is key to identifying student progress and retaining credibility in our public school system.

(b) The state board of education shall require all high schools to weight final semester examination grades as at least 12 percent of a student’s final grade.

 

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require weighting of final semester examinations.
