A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §6B-3-3d, relating to prohibiting lobbying by certified candidates for a seat in the West Virginia Legislature.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 3. LOBBYISTS.
§6B-3-3d. Prohibition of lobbying by candidates for State Senate or House of Delegates.
Any person who files a certificate of announcement pursuant to §3-5-7 of this code, and is a candidate for State Senate or the House of Delegates, is prohibited from lobbying within the West Virginia Legislature. This prohibition shall extend until that person is no longer a candidate for the State Senate or the House of Delegate, including upon defeat in the primary or general election or withdrawing from candidacy.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit lobbying within the West Virginia Legislature by persons who are registered candidates for the State Senate and House of Delegates.
