HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 31

Referred to the Committee on Economic Development and Tourism then Committee on Rules

Permitting the West Virginia Department of Tourism to proceed with procuring bids and interest in companies to place a lodge on the property of Beech Fork Lake.

Whereas, The construction of a lodge on the property of Beech Fork Lake will drive economic development for southwest West Virginia; and

Whereas, Beech Fork Lake is one of the largest lakes in the tri-state region, drawing visitors from West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio; and

Whereas, Visitors who come to West Virginia from out of state to enjoy the lake may wish to stay on site with the opportunity of a lodge on the lake property; and

Whereas, Beech Fork Lake is already a ready-made attraction for tourism in West Virginia, providing fishing, camping, boating, and other outdoor activities, and the creation of a lodge on the lake property would increase the amount of visitors to this destination; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature:

That the West Virginia Department of Tourism proceed with procuring bids and interest in companies to place a lodge on the property of Beech Fork Lake; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the West Virginia Department of Tourism.
