Requesting Congress take action to remove obscene language from
closed caption presentations that appear on television.
Whereas, When television presents productions containing
obscene language, the audio portion of the obscene language is
routinely removed or covered over with other sounds; and
Whereas, In spite of the removal of the audio presentation of
obscene language in these productions, closed caption presentations
still carry the offending content; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That Congress is hereby requested to take action to remove
obscene language from closed caption presentations that appear on
television; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby requested to
provide a copy of this Resolution to this State's Congressional
Delegation.
