Requesting that the Joint Committee on Government and Finance study the problem of tire disposal and finding solutions to rid our landscape of waste tires.
Whereas, West Virginia is known for its natural beauty; and
Whereas, Our pristine landscapes and scenic views are some of the key factors encouraging the development of the state; and
Whereas, Tires are essential to our transportation needs; and
Whereas, Waste tires represent a blight upon our landscape; and
Whereas, These waste tires degrade our natural environment and represent a hindrance to marketing our state as a good place to live, work, and raise a family; therefore be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance study the problem of tire disposal and recycling in West Virginia; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance review how other jurisdictions address this issue; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is urged to develop proposals for legislative action in the 2024 regular legislative session upon reviewing the state of similar regulation in other jurisdictions.
