SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 30

(By Senators Unger, Yoder, Tomblin, Mr. President, Bailey,

Barnes, Boley, Bowman, Caruth, Chafin, Deem, Dempsey, Edgell,

Facemyer, Fanning, Foster, Guills, Harrison, Helmick, Hunter,

Jenkins, Kessler, Lanham, Love, McCabe, McKenzie, Minard, Minear,

Oliverio, Plymale, Prezioso, Sharpe, Sprouse, Weeks and White)


Memorializing the life of the Honorable Harry E. Dugan, former Berkeley County businessman, member of the West Virginia Senate and distinguished West Virginian.

Whereas, Harry E. Dugan was born December 18, 1930, in Glengary, Berkeley County, the son of Rubin D. and Lillie M. Dugan; and
Whereas, As a prominent Berkeley County businessman, Harry E. Dugan was also a member of numerous public and community-oriented organizations, including the West Virginia Federation of Independent Businesses, West Virginia Farm Bureau, West Virginia Troopers Association, Romney Rescue Squad, Junior Order of American Mechanics, United Way, Red Cross, Berkeley County Sheriffs Association, Lions Club, Morgan County Little League, Romney Little League and Berkeley County Development Authority; and
Whereas, In 1994, Harry E. Dugan was elected to the West Virginia Senate from the sixteenth Senatorial District. During his tenure in the Senate, he served as a member of the Senate Committees on Agriculture; Education; Energy, Industry and Mining; Finance; Labor; Rules and the Legislative Oversight Commission on Education Accountability; and
Whereas, The Honorable Harry E. Dugan was married to his beloved wife, Sharon, and was the proud father of three sons, Ronald E., Robert L. and James D. Dugan; and
Whereas, Sadly, on October 6, 2004, the Honorable Harry E. Dugan passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of dedication to his community as a member of numerous community-related organizations and through his public service as a member of the West Virginia Senate; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby memorializes the Honorable Harry E. Dugan, former Berkeley County businessman, member of the West Virginia Senate and distinguished West Virginian; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby extends its sincere sympathy to the family of the Honorable Harry E. Dugan; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the family of the Honorable Harry E. Dugan.
