SENATE RESOLUTION 34

Recognizing February 17, 2023, as Adventure Travel Day at the Legislature.

Whereas, West Virginia is exceptionally blessed with scenic landscape for adventure travel; and

Whereas, West Virginia is called the Mountain State because it is the only state located entirely within the Appalachian mountain range; and

Whereas, West Virginia is home to 35 state parks, and over 28,000 acres of lakes and rivers; and

Whereas, Overlanding, off-roading, bicycling, mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, snowmobiling, motorized boating, non-motorized boating, hiking, and backpacking, rock climbing, rappelling, and horseback riding are just a few adventures that are recognized as official types of recreation in West Virginia; and

Whereas, Adventure travel can allow you to improve your physical and mental health, unplug and enjoy outdoor ventures; and

Whereas, West Virginia offers world-class outdoor adventures where our country roads take you to our small hometowns and their hospitality; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate recognizes February 17, 2023, as Adventure Travel Day at the Legislature.
