A BILL to amend article seven, chapter fifty-five of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
eighteen, relating to actions for injuries; and providing
that persons who assist other persons are immune from civil
liability.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article seven, chapter fifty-five of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
eighteen, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 7. ACTIONS FOR INJURIES.
§55-7-18. Aid to runaways; immunity from civil liability.
Any person, who in good faith renders assistance in any form
to another person without remuneration, or by taking that person
into his or her home or residence shall not be liable for any
civil damages as the result of any act or omission in rendering
such assistance.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide an immunity
from civil damages and liability by persons who assist other
persons in any way.
