A BILL to amend article eight, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section twelve.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article eight, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section twelve, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 8. COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.

§18-8-12. Unexcused absences; make up work prohibition;
mandatory.


It shall be the duty of the principal, administrative head, attendance director or other person to whom a duty is imposed under this article, to insure that any person who is enrolled in school and who misses school without a valid excuse shall not be afforded make-up work on school time.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit in-school make-up work on school time.
