A BILL to amend chapter twenty-four of the code of West Virginia,
one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding
thereto a new article, designated article two-e, relating to
providing that no utility company shall charge a retired
person or persons a late charge on their utility bill until
after the tenth of the following month.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That chapter twenty-four of the code of West Virginia, one
thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by
adding thereto a new article, designated article two-e, to read
as follows:
ARTICLE 2E. LATE CHARGE DELAYED FOR RETIRED PERSONS.
§24-2E-1. Late charge delay generally.
Any utility company, including, but not limited to electric,
gas, water, sewerage, sanitation, cable and telephone companies,
shall not charge a late fee to any retired person or persons
until after the tenth of the following month.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prevent a utility
company from charging a retired person or persons a late charge
on their utility bill until after the tenth of the following
month.
Article two-e, chapter twenty-four is new; therefore,
strike-throughs and underscoring have been omitted.
