A BILL to amend article five, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section eighteen-e, relating to requiring county boards of education to employ an art and music teacher in each elementary school.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article five, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section eighteen-e, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5. COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

§18-5-18e. Art and music teacher required in each elementary school.

The county board of education shall employ a teacher in each elementary school to teach art and music in that school. The board may employ one teacher full-time to teach both art and music, or one teacher half-time to teach art and one teacher half-time to teach music, or one teacher full-time to teach art and one teacher full-time to teach music.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require county boards of education to employ an art and music teacher in each elementary school.
