HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 31

Recognizing that the State of West Virginia should promote
programs and policies that encourage sustainable management
of our natural resources.
Whereas, The world's population has increased threefold since
1900 and is projected to double in the next 50 years; and
Whereas, The United States has the fastest growing population
of any industrialized nation; and
Whereas, The future of West Virginia is becoming increasingly
tied to what is happening in other parts of the world; and
Whereas, A growing global population can contribute to a
depletion of our natural resources and result in severe stress on
our natural environment; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That this Legislature hereby recognizes that the State of
West Virginia should promote programs and policies that encourage
sustainable management of our natural resources, and which
facilitate an increased awareness that our future quality of life
is related to the populations of other states and countries
throughout the world; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor of this State.
