Requesting the state board of education to include geography as an elective in the new proposed high school social studies curriculum.

Whereas, Geography education is essential as we approach the 21st century; and
Whereas, Geography will prepare West Virginia students to take their place in the "Global Village" of the next century; and
Whereas, West Virginia students must link our state's economy, culture and development with regional, national and international concerns; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the state board of education be requested to include geography as an elective in the new proposed high school social studies curriculum; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the West Virginia House of Delegates forward a copy of this resolution to the State Board of Education.
