"In memory of Clayton W. Hale, former member of the House of Delegates from the County of Wyoming."

WHEREAS, Clayton Hale was born on August 9, 1941, in Jolo, West Virginia. The son of the late Arvis Clayton Hale and Stella Mattie Vance Hale, he received his education in the public schools of Wyoming County.

He was married October 5, 1979, to Deborah Lynn Ayers Hale, and they had two sons: Clayton Eugene of Jolo and Robert Lee of Raysal. Mr. Hale was the owner and operator of a grocery store in Pineville and General Manager of a local radio station.

Clayton Hale especially loved bluegrass music, and was the founder of the Blue Grass Mountaineers, who twice performed at the Grand Ole Opry.

A Democrat politically, he was a member of the Moose, the Lions Club, the Wyoming County OH-9 Health Services and was a Baptist. Clayton's initial experience with the Legislature occurred when he worked as a member of the House Journal Room Staff. He later ran for and was elected to a seat in the House in 1984 and 1986, representing the 19th Delegate District.

On April 6, 2000, the earthly life of Clayton Hale ended following a brief illness; therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Delegates:

That it is with heartfelt sorrow that this body hereby notes the life and death of Clayton W. Hale, former member and public servant, loving father and grandfather, and friend, and conveys to his survivors the collective condolences of the House; and, be it

Further resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare copies of this resolution for his surviving wife, Deborah Lynn Ayres Hale, and for his surviving sons and grandchildren.
