HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 15

the Committee on Rules.]


Recognizing the members of the House of Delegates with the highest number of years of service in the House.

Whereas, Since the birth of our great State in one thousand eight hundred sixty-three, there have been over three thousand persons elected or appointed to the House of Delegates;
Whereas, Only about seven persons to date have served in the House more than twenty years, and two of those persons are members of the seventy-fifth Legislature, the Honorable Gentleman from the 43rd District, Paul Edward Prunty and the Honorable Gentleman from 53rd District, Larry V. Faircloth;
Whereas, The Citizens of their Districts, in electing these Honorable Gentlemen to eleven terms, have expressed their full support and confidence in the representation provided to them in the House of Delegates, and deserve to have their support recognized in a special manner; and
Whereas, Long service in the House represents great sacrifice and love for the House as an institution of self government by the people of West Virginia and such long and dedicated service should not go unnoticed; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That it is the sentiment of the members of the House of Delegates that the members with the highest number of years in service in the House be recognized by the title, "senior member," and under their name on the entrance door to their offices, the title "senior member" shall appear. In addition, other special recognition that may be appropriate should be arranged; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Speaker of the House is authorized to take these actions, and to authorize expenditures of any funds which may be necessary for these purposes.
