House Resolution 28

"In memory of Samuel Andrew Morasco of Grafton, Taylor County, West Virginia, legislator, businessman, veteran and distinguished citizen."
Whereas, Samuel A. Morasco was born September 24, 1920, in Grafton, West Virginia, the son of the late John B. and Theresa Teano Morasco, of Taylor County; and
Whereas, He was a graduate of St. Augustine High School and attended West Virginia University; and
Whereas, Married on March 25, 1951, to Rose Lee Jones, they had one son, David Lee, of Grafton, both of whom survive him; and
Whereas, Samuel Andrew Morasco served with distinction in the House of Delegates representing Taylor County from 1965 through 1968, 1973 through 1978, and was appointed during the interim of 1996; and
Whereas, Delegate Morasco was a respected businessman who served as chairman of the board of Grafton Homes and director of the Tygart Valley Development Association, Inc.; and
Whereas, He dedicated his efforts to community service as president of the Grafton Kiwanis Club and as a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Tygart Valley Housing Development, the Real Estate Association, the Independent Insurance Association, the Taylor County Sheltered Workshop, the Knights of Columbus, the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 308 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 638; and
Whereas, Delegate Morasco's community service was recognized by his selection to receive the Outstanding Citizen Award in 1968; and
Whereas, Samuel Morasco served his country in the United States Air Corps during World War II and as a member of the American Legion Taylor County Post 12 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial City Post 3801; and

Whereas, This House of Delegates, the people of West Virginia and particularly the citizens of Grafton, Taylor County, and the Tygart River valley area are saddened by his death; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the members of this House of Delegates hereby honor the life, work and public service of Samuel Andrew Morasco, mourn his death and express our condolences on his passing; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates be hereby directed to prepare copies of this resolution for Mrs. Rose Lee Jones Morasco, his wife; for David Lee Morasco, his son; and for the mayor of Grafton.
