H. R. 30--"Requesting the State Board of Education to designate sign language as a credited course study as a foreign language at the secondary education level."
Whereas, Sign language is an established form of communication for the deaf; and
Whereas, Sign language is used by hundreds of thousands of Americans and millions of people throughout the world; and
Whereas, Sign language is the only universal language that does not change regardless of locale, political boundaries, cultures and the like; and
Whereas, There are many students interested in learning sign language; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the House of Delegates of the West Virginia Legislature hereby requests the State Board of Education to designate sign language as a credited course of study as a foreign language at the secondary education level; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the members of the State Board of Education and the Governor.
