A BILL to amend and reenact section five, article two, chapter
sixty-one of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine
hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to increasing the
penalty for involuntary manslaughter.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section five, article two, chapter sixty-one of the
code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON.
§61-2-5. Involuntary manslaughter; penalty.
Involuntary manslaughter is a
misdemeanor felony, and any
person convicted thereof shall be
confined in jail not to exceed one year, or fined not to exceed one thousand dollars, or both, in the discretion of the court punished by a definite term of
imprisonment in the penitentiary which is not less than one nor
more than ten years.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to increase the penalties
for involuntary manslaughter
