A BILL to amend article five-a, chapter twenty-three of the code
of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
four, relating to state employees continuing to accrue
increment pay, sick leave and service toward retirement
while off work because of a work-related injury.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article five-a, chapter twenty-three of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended,
be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
four, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5A. DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES.
§23-5A-4. State employees to accrue benefits during absence due to work-related injuries.
All employees of the state of West Virginia shall continue
to accrue increment pay, annual leave, sick leave and credit for
continuous service during absences from work due to a compensable
injury under this code.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to preserve state
employees' benefits during absences from work due to work-related
injuries.
