____________
A BILL to amend article thirteen, chapter thirty of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-five, relating to engineers; providing for a special
emeritus license for licensees sixty-five or older with at
least ten years' experience; and exempting licensee from
continuing education requirements.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article thirteen, chapter thirty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-five, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 13. ENGINEERS.
§30-13-25. Special emeritus license for engineers.
Notwithstanding any provision in this article to the contrary, the board shall establish a special emeritus license
for any licensed engineer sixty-five years or older. After
becoming sixty-five years of age with at least ten years
experience as a licensed engineer, a licensed engineer is
entitled to be issued a license as an engineer emeritus. The
emeritus license shall entitle the holder to all the rights and
privileges of the license previously held by the licensee, except
that a licensee emeritus is exempt from all continuing education
requirements set forth in to this article.
The annual license fee for an engineer emeritus may not be
more than that required of a licensed engineer.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to create an engineer
emeritus license for engineers who are sixty-five or older with
at least ten years of experience, and which would grant an
exemption from continuing education requirements.
This section is new; therefore, strike-throughs and
underscoring have been omitted.
