SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 25

Requesting the Division of Highways to name the section of
Interstate 64, west of Huntington, from the one-mile marker
to the six-mile marker the "Pearl Harbor Survivor Highway".
Whereas, The honoring of veterans is an important part of
remembering and understanding our proud American history; and
Whereas, The West Virginia veterans of the December 7, 1941,
bombing of Pearl Harbor are truly heroes for the courage and
dedication they showed during that time of great crisis; and
Whereas, The dedication of the section of Interstate 64,
west of Huntington, from the one-mile marker to the six-mile
marker would serve as an important reminder that the citizens of
the State of West Virginia recognize and honor the survivors of
Pearl Harbor; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of
Highways to name the six-mile section of Interstate 64, west of
Huntington, the "Pearl Harbor Survivor Highway" in honor of
distinguished West Virginians who served their state and country with unquestionable courage and undying patriotism; and, be it
Further Resolved:,, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of
Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of Highways, and
the survivors of Pearl Harbor or the families of deceased Pearl
Harbor veterans.
